I have been involved with educating youth for 30 years. I have been a administrator, classroom teacher and coach with a great passion for learning and teaching.

The role of being an educator and teacher is measured by more than what occurs in the classroom. Teachers are responsible for cultivating our students’ enthusiasm and love for learning. This enthusiasm will ideally be the basis for them becoming lifelong learners who seek to solve not just their own personal issues, but larger community issues as well.

Having clear objectives for developing students’ understanding of a particular subject also influences how they develop as a person.  I emphasize the importance of making my students feel valued and secure, to help them develop as independent thinkers and learners. By being better informed about their students’ interests and what motivates them, teachers are able to raise their achievement.

I have learned through experience that the most successful educators have a desire to see and support the growth of children. My daily goal: student success in achieving small goals that lead to more significant ones. This philosophy has helped my career to always stay exciting. The satisfaction I take from seeing these youth expand their knowledge is the reason I continue educating and developing students today.
